Jen grew up in Berkeley, CA because her parents got tired of hauling a 2 year old up and down the hills of San Francisco. She was a precocious young thing so it must have been quite a task. In Berkeley, Jen grew up in a very colorful environment full of life and jewish women wearing vests made of Guatemalan tapestry. She was introduced to hip hop, jazz, African/Latin American drumming, and musical theatre. She started petitions, led protests and tried to stir up as much trouble as she could.
Jen left Berkeley for the rather shockingly conservative University of Southern California where she studied theatre amidst Trojan Band practices and greek life. She met interesting, funny, talented people that were different than her as well as chatty, delightful, feisty ladies that were just like her. She emerged a young woman ready to take on the world.
After graduation, Jen started in the theatre producing, directing and performing in plays and readings for the Blue House Theatre company--a young collective from her USC days. Her most recent Blue House endeavor, Marat/Sade ended with an LA Weekly Award for Best Production of the Year. She continues to work with her USC family and has found that it has only expanded with time.
In 2008, Jen got married to a smart and handsome young man who supports her by allowing film crews in their home until 3am because he knows it makes her happy. The couple also celebrated their first year in their first house in Echo Park, nestled in the foothils of Elysian Park. They are hoping to make the walk up the hill to Dodger's Stadium enough times in 2010 to warrant season tickets in the years to follow. You should come with us sometime--you'd have a ball!
